About Bebe
Hyeryun (Bebe) Kim is a Violinist, Pianist, and Film Composer. Born in Changwon, South Korea, Bebe started playing the violin at the age of 4 on her birthday and was inspired by her own mother, who is also a violinist who gave lessons at home. At the age of 8, she started to play piano.
During her elementary and middle school years, Bebe participated in numerous violin competitions at city and state levels in South Korea. She studied at the Yong-in International Music School for her high school and then continued her studies in New Zealand. After New Zealand, she returned to Korea before going to Seattle to study vocal techniques and performance skills under David Paul Mesler. In Seattle, Bebe experienced creating music with MIDI, which grew into composing music. Many told her that her music sounded like music from films, which inspired her to become a film composer.
After two years in Seattle, Bebe enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She decided to major in Film Scoring and Performance, as well as minoring in Music Production and Engineering to learn mixing and recording. Bebe has played for many film scoring recording sessions, album recordings, and other students' recitals and performances. As a performance major, she learned to play in many styles other than classical such as jazz, latin, funk, and fusion. Some notable faculty she studied with include Rebecca Cline, Darol Anger, Julianne Lee (Boston Symphony), Rob Thomas, George Clinton, Richard Davis, Bill Elliot, Isaiah Jackson (World renowned conductor), Eric Stern (Veteran Broadway Musical Director), and Enrique Gonzalez Muller (Latin Grammy Winner).
After Berklee, Bebe wants to travel the world and experiencing many types of music from different cultures so she can bring them into her film music and share with other people.
